As the location of the world’s largest innovation campus, Hyderabad is a city with its sights set firmly on the future. One of the fastest-growing technology hubs in the Asia-Pacific region, it is home to a growing array of international corporates and an enviable innovation ecosystem underpinned by strong academic and state support. In fact, the city has recently been selected by Google to host its largest operation outside of its US headquarters.
Chennai, with a more established innovation ecosystem and a more mature smart urban market, is home to an equally impressive portfolio of international business and engaged in a large number of flagship schemes designed to realise India’s vision for a safe and sustainable urban future.
Keen to grow in the Asia-Pacific region, our team has just returned from a five-day Innovate UK-led scoping mission to Hyderabad and Chennai designed to give UK businesses a taste of what these two cities truly have to offer.
The trip provided us the chance to engage with, and better understand the vision of, a variety of key stakeholders currently driving forward India’s smart urban infrastructural development, including those working toward new and net zero energy solutions, smart mobility, resilient utilities, sustainable water and waste management, and the circular economy. And needless to say, we were very impressed!
With the UK and India enjoying stronger economic ties over the past few years, and bilateral trade between the two countries forecast to double by 2030, it is a great time to introduce our leading-edge technologies into the Indian market. Based on the very positive reception received by our team – and our technology – from a number of potential strategic partners, and with the added confidence of new market knowledge, we are confident of adding significant value to the Indian smart tech landscape, and to that of the wider Asia-Pacific region.
Exciting times lie ahead as we start to build on our new relationships, and move forward unlocking new opportunities, so watch this space!
