With the largest Arctic Ocean territory, and the longest coastline in the world, it is no surprise that Canada has emerged as a global hub for oceantech solutions and services, and particularly so for marine remote sensing technologies and monitoring systems aimed at extreme harsh ocean environments. Atlantic Canada, and the province of Nova Scotia particularly, is host to a multi-billion dollar oceantech research and development ecosystem, borne of pioneering collaborations between private sector, academic and regional government stakeholders.
The opportunities for collaboration, growth, and innovation in this sector are clear, and now Hexsor is poised to make the most of these potentials, having been selected to join Innovate UK’s latest global mission in Canada.
Alongside 14 other high-growth, innovation-driven UK businesses, Hexsor will be travelling in June 2022 to Nova Scotia’s capital city, Halifax, to participate in a 5-day global business innovation programme of activities designed to educate members on the current challenges and opportunities of the country’s oceantech sector, identify potential partners and facilitate growth. A key element of the itinerary is participation in the international H2O Home to Overseas Conference and Exhibition which, as Canada’s premier event for the oceantech sector, played host to representatives from more than 25 countries during 2021. Alongside its appearance at H2O, Hexsor will also have the chance to showcase its own technology in an on-water demonstration at the Centre for Ocean Ventures & Entrepreneurship (COVE), Halifax Harbour.
With a number of other marine and maritime projects in the pipeline for Hexsor during 2022, it is an opportune moment to introduce ourselves to one of the world’s largest ocean economies.
